The International Working Group on Russian Sanctions presented the fourth Action Plan for strengthening sanctions against Russia, which also reflects the key priorities and topics that ICUV is working on.
Among the suggestions:
- Tariffs on energy imports from Russia. This is part of our War Tax campaign aimed at reducing the Kremlin’s profits from energy supplies. Read the brief;
- Ban on imports of Russian LNG from Yamal. We are also advocating this important step as part of the War Tax on LNG campaign, which aims to cut off energy ties with Russia;
- New sanctions against the shadow tanker fleet;
- Pressure on the Russian military-industrial complex. It is proposed to impose sanctions against Russia’s Rosatom, and we have repeatedly emphasised the importance of restricting Russia’s access to critical nuclear energy technologies. Read the brief;
- Ban on exports of critical technologies to Russia. Our team has been actively working with international partners, including the Independent Anti-Corruption Commission (NAKO), to promote the introduction of sanctions on the export of technologies that could be used to support Russia’s military actions. Read the brief;
- Confiscation the frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank to finance Ukraine’s needs. It is also an important support for our #MakeRussiaPay campaign, which aims to hold Russia accountable for its actions and pay compensation to war victims. Read the brief.
We will continue to work together to ensure that these proposals are not only Ukraine’s position, but are implemented in decisions by the EU.
