On February 24, the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, large-scale solidarity rallies took place across many countries around the world.
People took to the streets to remind the world that the war is ongoing and that Ukraine needs stronger international support and tougher sanctions against the aggressor to help end the war and secure victory in the fight for its independence and territorial integrity.
Together with Communities Army of Ukraine and the Ukrainian World Congress, we took part in organizing and supporting solidarity rallies in different countries around the world.
Among the key demands of the protest participants:
- #SkyShieldNow — real protection of Ukraine’s skies through coordinated air patrols
- Strengthening air defense and long-range capabilities to weaken and stop Russia’s war machine
- #MakeRussiaPay — full confiscation of frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine’s defense and reconstruction
- Full energy embargo on Russia, tougher sanctions on the shadow fleet, and closing sanctions loopholes
- Full restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders, along with strong security guarantees in the Black Sea
The rallies took place in Sydney, Berlin, Paris, Warsaw, London, Rome, Amsterdam, Geneva, Stockholm, Helsinki, Prague, Vilnius, and many other cities around the world.

Particularly large-scale rallies took place in Norway, co-organized by our partners, the Association of Norwegian-Ukrainian Friends.
A large group of people gathered outside the Storting building in Oslo to show solidarity with Ukraine. Participants carried signs and banners calling for increased international support, the confiscation of Russian assets, and stronger sanctions.
Today marks four years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Like millions of other Ukrainians, our family was forced to flee from Russian missiles and bombs. Amid all the horrors, it is deeply moving to see such strong support and dedication to Ukraine across Norway.
Jan Ottesen, spokesperson for the Norwegian-Ukrainian Friendship Association
Commemorations were held in many Norwegian cities Oslo, Ålesund, Haugesund, and Stavanger, where hundreds of people gathered to condemn the energy attacks on civilians, show support for Ukraine’s steadfast resistance, and honor the memory of those who have lost their lives.

In Berlin, our team also joined a solidarity rally organized by the German-Ukrainian association “Viche.” Under the slogan “For the Future of Europe,” participants marched to the Brandenburg Gate, which was illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. Around 5,000 people took part, with the slogan #MakeRussiaPay resounding throughout the event. Attendees carried creative posters calling for justice, accountability for the aggressor, and stronger support for Ukraine.
