On April 26, 2026 pople around the world will gather to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster and to raise their voices against russia’s ongoing nuclear terror.
The goal of the action is to demand the complete sanction isolation of “Rosatom” and to stop the financing of the russian nuclear war machine.
The event is organized by the International Center for Ukrainian Victory (ICUV) and UAnimals together with other partners.
Forty years ago, radiation proved to the world that it does not check passports and recognizes no borders. It does not distinguish between humans, animals, or nature. It destroys all living things, leaving nothing behind. Today, russia has turned this tragedy into a weapon. Since 2022, it has occupied the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) — the largest nuclear power plant in Europe — using it as a military shield. The aggressor deliberately destroys energy infrastructure, pushing the world to the brink of a nuclear catastrophe every single day.
EVENT PROGRAM:
- Art Installation: The square will feature an art installation consisting of life-sized silhouette figures of people and animals — symbols of all living beings that have suffered from past nuclear disasters and remain under threat today.
- Advocacy Action: Representatives from the organizing organizations will deliver speeches, and key messages will be read calling for the immediate imposition of sanctions against Rosatom.
Key Message: russia uses nuclear blackmail as a strategy for destroying life. Sanctions against Rosatom are a necessary step for the safety of the world and the protection of all living things.
