ICUV’s co-founders Hanna Hopko and Olena Halushka with our partners New Europe Center had over 40 meetings during their advocacy visit to Washington, DC (USA).
This tight schedule was driven by the desire of our advocacy team to reach as many representatives of various groups of influence as possible, members of both Republican and Democratic parties, as well as officials and civic activists.

The primary purpose of the visit was to continue informing our Washington partners about the current situation in Ukraine, including the situation at the frontline.
The main topics were: the spring counter-offensive, Ukraine’s urgent need for additional weapons, and the strengthening of sanctions against the aggressor.

We also had a chance to present a Manifesto for sustainable peace, and a report about the impact of the russian invasion on the agriculture market of Ukraine.
“2023 should be the year of victory, despite all the circumstances. We worked for this in Washington. And our diplomatic and advocacy team will continue this work as long as necessary”.
— said Hanna Hopko.

And we had an important conversation with the 52nd speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi. In which we talked about Ukraine’s victory – weapons, sanctions, and confiscation of russian assets.
